About this photo in Dr Pamela Kaushal’s words : “This photo was taken during my one year Sabbatical in India in the year 2018 when I was serving as a doctor at Ramakrishna Mission hospital in Vrindavan. The child with me was left outside my OPD clinic. She has mental retardation and her poor grandfather abandoned her as he could no longer look after her. I served this child as my very own and I then contracted Typhoid from her. It was Sri Krishna Janamashtami day of 2018 when I was admitted with Typhoid in the RKM hospital. This photo is a reminder of how Vidya Jyoti project took birth.”

Dr Pamela Kaushal, a Consultant Psychiatrist in England, decided to start Vidya Jyoti in 2019 following her one year sabbatical in India. She decided to provide education and nutrition to the most deprived children in states of India, where malnourishment is a significant problem.
