Vidya Jyoti Nigeria Education coordinator Sister Patience Omolara, interviewing indigent students and their families.

In June 2026 we appointed Patience Omalara as our Education coordinator. She was tasked with identifying students from underprivileged backgrounds for our scholarship programme. We then decided to offer our scholarships to the patients who were sponsored by us for open heart surgery.

In May 2025, with 13 year old Victor who met Dr Kaushal during her visit to the borehole drilled by Vidya Jyoti. Victor’s mother was selling water form our handpump to pay his school fees. Victor likes Maths and Science. Victor received a scholarship from Vidya Jyoti to pay for school fees, shoes, bag and books.

Favour Chidera Ubaka 21 yrs old - Vidya Jyoti scholarship awarded for B.Sc. Physiology (4 yr course) at Federal university. Lafia, Nasarawa, Nigeria. Her mother sells charcoal for their livelihood.

Mercy John Year 2 student at Federal college of Education Zuba (Dept of English and social studies). Her father is deceased and her mother works as a manual labourer. Mercy sells peanuts on the street. She is one of 6 children. Due to lack of textbooks, she Could not sit her one of her exams in year 1.

12 year old Ishola Abdul Razzaq, was sponsored by Vidya Jyoti for open heart surgery in 2024 and is now receiving a scholarship from us. He is the son of a farmer and exceptionally bright, aspiring to become an engineer. He is one of 6 children.

8 year old Amorin who was sponsored by Vidya Jyoti for open heart surgery in 2024, is now receiving a scholarship from us. Amorin’s mother is a single parent and on a very low income. Vidya Jyoti is offering scholarships to all the sponsored open heart surgery patients, who are of school age.
